Volunteers at Shands at the University of Florida

Shands HealthCare offers an array of volunteering opportunities within its hospitals and outlying facilities. Each Shands HealthCare hospital offers a volunteer program, and several hospitals offer specialized volunteer opportunities.

As a volunteer, you will complement professional services, in-patient care, and support areas of the hospital. Volunteers help Shands humanize the healthcare system and make patients feel more comfortable.

Shands recognizes and appreciates the contributions of its volunteers who devote their personal time and provide assistance to the patients, their families and the hospital staff. During National Volunteer Week, a small gift item is presented to each volunteer. Shands also holds an annual system-wide luncheon to recognize the efforts and achievements of our volunteers. Older adult volunteers receive free parking and meal tickets on the days they volunteer.
